Freshmen, transfer, international and readmission students joining UK beginning with the fall, spring or summer term must participate in a new student orientation.

Freshman orientations

For freshmen starting Spring 2026

Freshman students starting in the spring are required to attend a BBN Orientation on any one of these dates. The day’s program will last from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Eastern time and will take place in-person, on campus.

Freshman students starting in the Spring of 2026 will be assessed a $25 orientation fee after their orientation on their fall tuition bill.

For freshmen starting Summer 2026

Freshman students starting in the summer are required to attend a BBN Orientation on any one of these dates. The day’s program will last from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Eastern time and will take place in-person, on campus.

Freshman students starting in the Summer of 2026 will be assessed a $25 orientation fee after their orientation on their fall tuition bill.

For freshmen starting Fall 2026

Freshmen starting in the fall are required to attend a one-day, in-person BBN Orientation on any one of these dates. The day’s program will last from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Eastern time.

Capacity Information: BBN Orientations have limited capacity per date. As dates reach capacity, they will be automatically removed from the options available in myUK. Should additional space become available, you will see them in myUK, allowing you to switch your date.

Additional Information and Fees

Any student not participating in orientation for their designated start term  will need to complete late registration in the first week of classes (there is an additional $40 charge for late registration).  

If you are unable to attend any of the above dates, please email orientation@uky.edu.  

Freshmen beginning in fall 2026 are assessed the $125 orientation fee and $125 enrollment prepayment when registering for BBN Orientation.  

Transfer students and readmitted students with transfer work

Transfer students starting in the spring are required to attend a BBN Orientation on any one of these dates. The day’s program will last from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Eastern time and will take place in-person, on campus.

Readmitted students without transfer work

For readmitted students without transfer work

Readmitted students without transfer work will complete a self-paced, rolling online orientation.  

Students must register for this orientation in myUK. You may disregard the placeholder date for this orientation, as this is a rolling, virtual orientation.  

You will receive an email to your UK email address inviting you to your orientation course in Canvas.  You will need to complete the modules in this Canvas course to fulfill your orientation requirements. This Canvas course contains information on how you will connect with your academic advisor and register for courses.
